HYROX Training in Phuket: How to Build a Complete Week
Foundation, Power, Engine and Complete: how EMPOWER's weekday class structure builds the qualities a HYROX athlete needs.

HYROX looks simple on paper: eight one-kilometre runs, each followed by a functional workout station. The challenge is what happens when running, strength and skill begin to interfere with one another.
Good HYROX training does more than repeat the race. It builds movement quality, strength, aerobic capacity, pacing and the ability to make decisions while tired. At EMPOWER in Kamala, those qualities are separated across the week, then brought back together in complete sessions.
Understand what the race demands
Every HYROX race uses the same broad sequence, which makes preparation measurable. Running accounts for a large portion of the event, but it is never fresh running. Each kilometre begins after work such as sled pushes, sled pulls, burpee broad jumps, rowing, farmers carries, sandbag lunges or wall balls.
That creates three connected demands:
- You need an aerobic engine that can keep working for the full event.
- You need enough strength and technique to move loads efficiently.
- You need pacing discipline so an early station does not compromise everything after it.
Race simulations have a place, but repeating full simulations too often can produce fatigue without fixing the limitation. A structured week gives each quality focused attention.

The EMPOWER weekly structure
The complete weekday HYROX schedule runs through four connected formats, each with a distinct purpose.
Monday: HYROX Foundation
Foundation develops movement quality, technique and base fitness. It is where newer athletes learn efficient positions and experienced athletes clean up habits that cost energy. Scaling is part of the session, not an afterthought.
Tuesday: HYROX Power
Power focuses on strength, force and loaded work. Sleds, carries, lunges and controlled strength pieces develop the ability to move resistance without turning every repetition into a maximal effort.
Wednesday: HYROX Engine
Engine combines running, ergs and sustained intervals. The target is repeatable output: work hard, recover enough and hold a pace that remains useful later in the session.
Thursday: HYROX Foundation
A second Foundation day reinforces movement quality and builds more base work. That repetition matters. Efficient racing comes from positions you can find automatically when you are tired.
Friday: HYROX Complete
Complete connects the week. Running, stations, transitions and race-style decisions appear in mixed sessions so athletes can practise applying strength and fitness under pressure.
Both daily class times follow the same focus, giving residents and visitors a choice between 10:30 and 17:30.
HYROX training for every level
You do not need a race entry to benefit from HYROX training. The format gives general fitness a clear purpose: move well, build strength, improve endurance and learn to pace. Loads, distances and intensity can be adjusted while the structure stays recognisable.
For beginners, the priority is consistency and technique. For experienced athletes, it may be transition speed, running under fatigue or maintaining station quality at race pace. Coaches Fuss and Luca guide the sessions in Thai, English and Italian across the team.

Use Phuket as a focused race-prep block
Training away from home can be valuable when it removes normal distractions. A week in Phuket can become a deliberate block: coached HYROX sessions, easier access to recovery, good food and enough space between sessions to rest.
If a race is close, more work is not automatically better. Tell the coach your event date, current training volume and any limitations. The right class can then support your plan rather than competing with it.
EMPOWER also runs dedicated HYROX camps led by Fuss. They are built for all levels, with race preparation, recovery, meals from NOURISH and island experiences organised into one programme. That is the deeper option when you want the entire week designed around training.
How to book a HYROX class in Phuket
Classes run every weekday at 10:30 and 17:30 and are booked through Glofox. Choose the day based on the quality you want to train, or follow the full week for a balanced progression.
Bring training shoes suitable for running and functional work, water and a realistic idea of your current level. Arrive early enough to meet the coach and understand the session. If you are racing soon, share the date before class.
The race is demanding. The preparation can still be clear: build the pieces, practise putting them together and arrive at the start line knowing what your pace feels like.
